Definition of Biodanza Rolando Toro System

Biodanza is a system of human integration, organic renewal, affective re-education and re-learning of the original functions of life. Its methodology consists of inducing integrating experiences through music, singing, movement and group dynamics.

INTEGRATION
In Biodanza the integration process acts by stimulating the primordial functions of the connection with life, which allows each individual to integrate himself, the species and the universe.

AFFECTIVE REEDUCATION
It is the ability to establish meaningful links with other people.

ORGANIC RENEWAL
It is the action on the organic self-regulation, induced mainly by special states of trance that activate processes of cellular repair and global regulation of the biological functions, diminishing the factors of disorganization and stress.

RE LEARNING OF THE ORIGINATING FUNCTIONS OF LIFE
It is learning to live from the instincts. Instinct is an innate, hereditary behavior, which does not require learning and is manifested by specific stimuli. Its purpose is to preserve life and allow its evolution. Instincts represent nature in us, and sensitizing ourselves to them means restoring the union between nature and culture.

INTEGRATED EXPERIENCES
It is an experience lived with great intensity in the here-now and with ontological quality (it is projected over all existence). The experiences in Biodanza are integrating because they have a harmonizing effect in themselves. The experiences in Biodanza are aimed at stimulating the potentials of vitality, sexuality, creativity, affectivity and transcendence, called Lines of VIVENCIA.

IN OTHER WORDS
“The most subversive of all the disciplines is that which is based on respect for life, the joy of living, the right to love and contact. From our meditation derives a technique that consists of stimulating, creating and developing life in others, which generates life in us. People are our most powerful environment. The ecological couple, the ecological family and the ecological community are expressions of the Biocentric Principle ” Rolando Toro Araneda.

The Vital Unconscious

The text quoted below has been extracted from the material prepared by Professor Rolando Toro
for the Training and Updating course for Teachers of the Biodanza® System.

.

I have defined the concept of “Vital Unconscious” as a proposal to refer to the cellular psyche.
There is a form of psychism of organs, tissues and cells that obeys a global “sense” of self-preservation.
The vital unconscious gives rise to phenomena of cellular solidarity, creation of tissues, immunological defense and, in sum,
to the successful occurrence of the living system. The act of healing will then be understood as a movement to recover that vital harmony with the universe.

Let’s briefly examine the three levels of the Unconscious.

  • The Personal Unconscious: described by Freud.
  • The Collective Unconscious: described by Jung.
  • The Vital Unconscious: proposed by Rolando Toro.

The three levels of the Unconscious communicate with each other through “transition thresholds”.
Between the Personal Unconscious and the Collective Unconscious, the processes that go from personal history to the archetype are established.

Between the Collective Unconscious and the Vital Unconscious, the processes that go from the archetype to the systems of biological integration through integration dances are established.

The Vital Unconscious is nourished by the cosmic memory and organizes the matter (protein chains, organic systems) on the basis of presumptive programming that may or may not generate stable organic systems. The patterns of self-organization that generate living systems capable of reproducing are quite stable.

Biodanza® works especially with the Vital Unconscious, a condition that allows a very effective action in the deepest litter of the human living system. Through the experiences a cosmic adventure begins in which one navigates in an unknown direction, to optimized life forms.

The Vital Unconscious is expressed through endogenous humor, kinesthetic well-being and global health status.

The desire to live.

The desire to live comes from the cellular psyche, not from conceptual thought or conscious will.

There is a quality of survival in cells, an index of longevity related to the desire to live.
The desire to live is felt when the genetic potentials can be expressed.

Depression is the exhaustion of that impulse of life, the loss of motivations to continue living.

The stimulation of the expression of the five sets of genetic potential (five lines of experience) is a way of positively influencing the vital unconscious.

The Biocentric Principle

The Biocentric Principle is inspired by the intuition of the universe organized as a function of life and consists of a proposal to re-formulate our cultural values that takes as reference the respect for life.

The Biocentric Principle proposes the potentialization of life and the expression of its evolutionary powers. Biodanza is, from this point of view, a poetics of the living, founded on the universal laws that preserve and allow the evolution of life. All actions of Biodanza are oriented in resonance with the deep and moving phenomenon of life.

Biodanza uses an experiential methodology, giving emphasis to lived experience more than verbal information, it allows to start the internal transformation without the intervention of the mental processes of repression.

We participate in the visionary thought of Albert Schweitzer: “meditating on life, I feel the obligation to respect any will of life around me, for being equal to mine”.

The fundamental idea of the good is, then, that it consists in preserving life, in favoring it, in leading it to its highest value; and that evil consists in annihilating life, hurting it, putting obstacles to its flowering.

The Biocentric Principle places its interest in a universe understood as a living system. The kingdom of life covers much more than plants, animals and man. Everything that exists, from neutrinos to quasar, from stone to more subtle thought, is part of the prodigious living system.

According to the Biocentric Principle, the universe exists because life exists, and not the other way around.
